Barry University

Barry University is a Catholic institution situated in sunny Miami Shores, Florida. The university is home to a diverse body of students from a variety of geographic, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds, and is committed to the highest academic standards in undergraduate and graduate education.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Barry University has a rich tradition of graduating knowledgeable, compassionate, professional nurses for over 75 years. Barry nurses are respected throughout the South Florida community for their exemplary patient care and their dedication to providing healthcare and education to underserved populations. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a comprehensive, high quality program that prepares students to embark upon an exciting and fulfilling career as a professional nurse. Our student nurses enjoy clinical placements at some of the best health facilities in the country, including Baptist Healthsouth, Jackson Health System, Miami Children’s Hospital, and the Memorial Healthcare System.

Barry is pleased to offer a wide range of scholarship opportunities to help with the cost of tuition. 90% of our students are awarded some kind of scholarship so a private education can cost a lot less than you might think.

We are fortunate to have a longstanding agreement with Baptist Healthsouth that offers students the option to apply for the Baptist Bond scholarship in exchange for an employment commitment upon graduation. A selected group of students, known as Baptist Scholars, complete their nursing studies at Baptist Hospital and are subsequently provided the opportunity for employment within the Baptist Healthcare system. Tuition for these highly-qualified and motivated students is substantially reduced. This scholarship opportunity is available for Traditional Option students in both the fall and spring semesters.

We are currently accepting applications for our 6-semester Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program which begins in January 2017. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is October 31st but the cohort may fill up before that date. Please see the Barry University BSN Program NursingCAS page for more information about the program and our university in general or go to www.barry.edu/nursing.

We are also accepting applications for our January 2017 Accelerated Option BSN. This program is designed for those who already have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than nursing. Tuition for this 4-semester program is a flat rate of $28,000 + $500/semester lab and technology fee. The deadline for receipt of completed applications for the AO program is October 31st, 2016.

If you have questions about the program, prerequisites, application process, or the Baptist Scholarship, please contact one of our specialist nursing advisors:

Union College-Nebraska

The Union College Nursing Program has a tradition of excellence. In fact, our program was the first baccalaureate nursing program in the state of Nebraska as well as the Adventist higher education system. We don’t just talk about how excellent our graduates are, they prove it time and time again – our December 2014 graduates have a 95.5% pass rate on their first attempt of the NCLEX-RN® and both the May 2015 graduates and December 2015 graduates have a 100% pass rate on their first attempt! Our job placement rate for nursing graduates is 100% in the first six months after passing the NCLEX-RN® and our graduates are recruited by hospital systems and other healthcare organizations across the United States.

We have integrated the Minor in Leadership into the baccalaureate nursing curriculum, so you can graduate with both in four years setting yourself apart from other nursing graduates when you apply for jobs. We have a cutting-edge nursing curriculum including Disaster Nursing and simulation is integrated into every clinical course. Students in the Global Health Nursing course participate in a medical mission trip to Nicaragua each year over Spring Break to serve the Miskito Indians.

You will complete your clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare systems and settings preparing you with the knowledge and skills that facilitate the flexibility and adaptability of a professional nurse.
